ارتفاع عدد وفيات الرضع التي تسببها الاضطرابات الوراثية

Helped prenatal care in reducing the infant mortality rate to a large extent, but the death of infants due to genetic disorders among the citizens of the United Arab Emirates have risen sharply.

According to researchers, the main reason for this is the high rate of inbreeding.

Dr. Yousef Mohammed Abdul Razak, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in the United Arab Emirates University, said that the infant mortality rate of a decade ago was only a third of what it is currently.

"There is in the United Arab Emirates a high rate of genetic defect caused by the disease, a genetic defect cases lead to such a high rate of genetic disorders somatic chromosome; and this in turn is associated with elevated rate of inbreeding."

Dr Abdul Razak said - who is also an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University - speaking at a news conference that inbreeding among citizens up to 51% and congenital malformations key rate at birth has become 22 per 1,000 per live births This number is less than what is found in the fact that many cases are discovered at a later date to give birth. "

Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University is the headquarters of the National Register of genetic control of congenital malformations in the state which was established by the Ministry of Health and records all infants with congenital deformities.

He also said that research on congenital deformities is also one of the seven priority themes in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University because genetic disorders is given great importance at the national level.

This record gives researchers an idea of the extent of genetic disorders.

Genetics group attached Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University is also a member of the International Organization Klering House monitoring system congenital malformations, an international organization of all undiscovered genetic diseases in member countries.

Dr Abdul Razak said that Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences has recently established the Centre for Arab Genomic Studies in order to gather under one roof, a distinguished group of geneticists and research scientists from different Arab countries.

"These researchers working to achieve a common goal is to identify genetic disorders and demographic study of these diseases and conduct research on the prevention of genetic diseases and finding remedies to them.

"The formation of a separate fund to encourage scientists to conduct research in this area."

As Dr. Abdul Razzaq also announced the convening of the first International Congress of Genetics in Dubai next month, which opens on December 9 and lasts three days.

Conference will be organized by the Genetics Research at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University group. Of course, the Sheikh Hamdan Award for Medical Sciences is the main sponsor of the event.

He also said that a number of renowned scientists at the international level will lecture on various aspects of genetic disorders and therapies.

The conference will be attended by more than 350 participants from 30 different countries, and offers 52 oral presentation and 117 research sticker.
